Hello,
Has anyone come across the first name LILLIAS in their research? I'm sure it can't be that common a name :-)
I am trying to find a marriage entry for the parents of:
SAMUEL JONES Christening: 27 MAR 1767 Lilleshall, Shropshire, England
Father: SAMUEL JONES Mother: LILLIAS C032722
I thought with a name like LILLIAS it might be easy - but so far I can't find any marriage entries for a Samuel and Lillias...all help GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Fiona.

Hi Fiona
Have you seen the name written in the records yourself or just a transcription? I wondered whether it could be Lillian which has been badly written.

Hi Fiona
Sorry, this doesn't help you find the marriage either but I've googled the name Lillias and found several women with the name. One of the name meaning sites says it's a Scottish form of Lillian.
Hope Keith can help you with the marriage.

A slightly different spelling but "must " be the same family!!??

Hmmm....interesting. No I hadn't noticed that entry. It seems there were a couple of siblings:
LILLY LIAS JONES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 31 JUL 1796 Lilleshall, Shropshire, England ELANOR JONES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 13 JAN 1799 Lilleshall, Shropshire, England SARAH JONES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 29 MAR 1801 Lilleshall, Shropshire, England
I am going to add these to my family tree maker file - and one day a connection may well just appear
The spelling of Elanor is also interesting - that has also cropped up in with "my" Jones family and I thought it was perhaps a misspelling but now I'm not so sure.
Fiona.

Hello Keith....an offer of a lookup.......for that I will make entries in your guest book every day
For the marriage - I do think it will have been at Lilleshall as that was where Samuel was christened......but I don't know if he had and older siblings so the date for the marriage could be any time before 1767.
SAMUEL JONES Male Christening: 27 MAR 1767 Lilleshall, Shropshire, England Father: SAMUEL JONES Mother: LILLIAS C032722
Thanks,
Fiona.

Hi Fiona,
I couldn't find your marriage in Lilleshall.
I looked from 1762 to 1770 - but couldn't SEE yours - although of course some were nearly blank and others unreadable - that's the problem with old Parish Records.
Strange as it my seem I only found 1 Jones in that period:
John Jones to Elizabeth Tebb in 1766
Sorry - did try
Cheers
Keith
