"POWELL" 1901 census look..Leeds

Hi,

In Feb. 1906 Harry Powell was living at 23 Argyle Road,Leeds

He was 21 years old and was a Gunner in Royal Field Artillery.

His fathers name was John Powell.

I would love to know where he was born.

It seems Harry Powell was living with his grandparents and there is an Irish connection ?

Does the abreviation "abt" mean about ?

This would be the same "Adults with grandchildren" from the 1901 now appearing in the 1891 census. living at 28 Argyll street

"Father" or is he grandad? has just initials for name and is a Boot Finisher

On Harry Powell's mariage cert from 1906 it shows "Argyle Road".Your street no is correct...28.

Sorry to be picky but just trying to establish the correct address and I really do appreciate your help

.I have just found what I think is his birth info on "FreeBMD".By the way I have noticed it is really Ancestory.Com info and if you use it too much they block you out and ask for millions of dollars...lol.

Many years ago I asked the UK Records to find Harry's birth info but they came up with nothing...GRRRRRRR.

Harry came to Australia before WW1 but was dragged back to the UK in 1914 and he used to go AWOL to see his mum in Ireland so this info seems to be tying in.

Just going by the age I think Bridget Powell would be his Grandmother.In 1901 she was 68 and harry was 17....pregnant at 50 Huh

...how sad.

When you have time could you please send me the 1871 cencus information for the POWELL family in Kirkland,Westmorland that you sent me abt 03/July/2005.

"Bridget Powell abt 1835 Ireland Wife Kirkland Westmorland"

There are 6 other members and if possible please let me know the address.

It got damaged. I'll file it away carefully this time.

By the way I have actually found Harry Powell's (1884) army medal cards on file at TNA/Kew with help from the The Veterans Affairs here in Australia.To find six WW1 medal cards about my grandfather has been quite rewarding.
