Cook - Workington or Cockermouth
« on: Saturday 18 June 05 10:15 BST (UK) »

I'm looking for information about my grandfathers family - I don't know a lot about them.  He was born 25 January 1908 I think Cockermouth but could have been Workington  - would like to know who his parents were?  but I may have to wait until 2012 for the 1911 Census?

Thanks

You should be able to obtain a copy of his birth certificate which will give his parent's names.

Is this him? ("March" indicates a registration in the first quarter of the year.  Cockermouth registration District includes Workington.)

Births Mar 1908
Cook  Robert Pearson     Cockermouth  10b 673

Certificates may be ordered online (cost £7) using the reference numbers given above from

Yes this is him - I had forgotten about his middle name as this may have made it easier to find being a bit more unusual than Robert or Cook - Do you have any more info for him?  I never thought about getting his birth certificate

Thank you

Betty

You will be able to get the Birth Certificate from the Cockermouth Registry Office on Station Street as well, I was impressed at the speed of them as well
