Can anyone help me?
My grandfather Arthur Mitchell born c. 1901 married Rose Lilian Carter at Fulham Register Office in 1925. His fathers given name on cert. is Ernest Mitchell. One of the witnesses was M.M.Mitchell. Arthurs address(and incidentally Roses) was Herne Hill. He died in Truro in 1959. I believe he had a brother called Norman and there is a connection to Thornton Heath as well as Crystal Palace and head gardeners. Arthur was a carpenter, Ernest, his father was Foremans Labourer.
Does anyone out there recognise any of these details? I cannot find birth certs for either grandparents or any other info, and family are proving "un-co-operative". Please please help or point me in the right direction I have come so far with my Mothers side of the family, I would dearly love to find out about my fathers side of the family.

I cannot find the right Arthur or his brother Norman,but I think this might be Rose?

Does their marriage cert say their ages or her dad's name?

If you want to apply for the cert you can do so online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

You can specify her fathers name and if it is not the right one they will refund £3 of your money  Grin

You say 'one of the witnesses was' .Who was the other,as often they prove to be a married sister or another member of the family.
