hi Debbie is it possible to narrow the field a little as there are a few John How(e)that could possibly be George's father.Any possible clue to either parents name or where they were born.

Hot Really I'm afraid - George became a minister in the baptist church and I have found him in all the census years - 1st in Warminster then in Cardiff and finally in London in each of them he gives Little Torrington as his place of birth and the date approx 1816 - from his marriage we know his father was John, however another researcher on these boards (another Debbie in fact) has looked for his baptism - even kindly went to the RO to do it and we can't find it, given his later profession it was probably non-conformist, so I am afraid I am now stuck - I will probably have to try and get to Exeter RO some time, but it is a way from Derby and will have to wait a bit.
Many thanks for the interest
Debbie
