where is E GATHIAR, Scotland?

Acc to the 1901 Eng & Wales census, William FOWLER was born in E Gathiar in 1828. 

Anyone know where this is & how i would go about tracing his parents & siblings.  They may have been farmers.

its the transcription (on the free to search) not the image that the info relates to (national archives 1901):

William Fowler  72y B: East Gathiar, Scotland residing at Kiplin parish, York Occupation -  Farmer

im not a member of ancestry but putting this info with birthplace as scotland only, it looks like theres a record, so if somebody dosent mind having a look at the image, they maybe able to decipher the birthplace.

Any takers???

btw, 1881 only lists birthplace as Scotland, so no joy there  Huh
