I am trying to find where a William Hicks and his wife Anne were born. I have been unable to find there marriage or any census records. Their son Samuel Hicks was born August 1836 in Farringdon and baptised at Marlborough Ind Chapel NC Farringdon Berks. On Samuel's marriage certificate his fathers occupation was a farmer. Could someone check the 1841 or 1851 census for me to see if they could be found. Thanks for your help

Hi Linda
Here is Samuel in 1851 Fo 300 Southampton Street - Farringdon
HICKS Ann aged 46 Mar Wife born Yattendon Berks Samuel S aged 14 Rachel Dau aged 12 Mary A Dau aged 9 William aged 5
all kids born Farringdon
Unfortunatly William was not there though Ann makes it plain that she is a wife not a widow - so he was just away from home at that time
I tried to find them in the 1841 - but its not indexed and some of the pages at the begining are impossible to read so I am afraid I couldn't find them
However from the info on the 1851 I am fairly sure that this is William & Ann and Younger son William in 1861 - Great Faringdon Berkshire
William Hicks abt 1798 Faringdon, Berkshire, England Head - Cattle Drover Ann Hicks abt 1805 Frilsom, Berkshire, England Wife William Hicks abt 1846 Faringdon, Berkshire, England Son - grocer Elizabeth Blisset abt 1781 Frilsom, Berkshire, England Boarder
If you don't know Berkshire, Frilsham is next door to Yattendon where Ann says she was born in the 1851 census index - it is possible that Elizabeth may be Anns mother
I think this must be Ann in 1871 in Wokingham Berkshire
Frank Woodman abt 1844 Devizes, Wiltshire, England Head Rachel Woodman abt 1839 Faringdon, Berkshire, England Wife Ann Hicks abt 1802 Firhsham, Berkshire, England Mother-in-law Walter Rogers abt 1852 Hampshire, England Boarder Arthur Walker abt 1856 Stockwell Boarder Walter Walker abt 1857 Stockwell Boarder
She says she is now a widow so William must have died in the meantime
Hope it helps
Debbie

Thanks very much Debbie.
It means I can start again with the Hicks family.
Just one more question is William's baptism at Marlborough Ind Chapel the same as his sons Samuel or is this a church in Farringdon.
Thanks again for all your help.
