1841 and 1851 Windsor look up please
« on: Sunday 19 June 05 19:23 BST (UK) »

I would be really grateful if someone could look up the 1841 Census for Windsor, Berkshire to see if the following family are listed.  Their daughter Maria was born in 1841 in Windsor, Berkshire.

John Sayer aged 40  born in Hamsell, Suffolk  - a groom
Mary Sayer aged 35 born in Kingston, Surrey
Maria  Sayer - she may have been born ( a tiny baby) in 1841 but would have been a 10 year old in 1851.  Another child Ellen would have been 7 in 1851.

Any help you can give (especially of other children) would be gratefully received

Many thanks
Jenny

Hi Harry,
I just wanted to say a very big thankyou to you for looking up the details of the Sayers family on the 1851 census.  I had no idea that Maria (who was my great, great, great grandmother had older brothers and sisters.  You have certainly helped my research.
Thankyou so much

Hi Newbie,

That is the most fantastic help.  Thankyou so much, its brilliant to have details from 1841 as it gives details of other siblings who disappear before 1851.
Thankyou so much your help has been great.

I am just doing some family history research for my mum and am also looking for John Sayer's place of birth, and came across your posts (now two years old) while doing Google searches. I noted that he listed it as Hamswell/Amswell (noted from your other post) but couldn't find anything of them in Suffolk. Did you ever find out whether it was Elmswell or not?

I found a marriage record for him to Mary by the way. For reference, John was my ancestor via Maria for me too! Shocked
