Hallo everybody,
I'm having a very frustrating time trying to trace Ambrose HEDGES, born most probably in Faringdon c1806. (Birth and/or baptism AND parents names)
He appears in the 1851 and 1861 Censuses aged respectively 45 and 55, so given the early Census approximations he could have been born between 1800 and 1811. I've had a check run on the original Parish Registers by the Berkshire Records Office from 1798 to 1812 inclusive, with no luck.
He married Lucy HEAVENS in Faringdon on 8th September 1827, and the record states "of this parish" for them both.
He was a tailor by profession, and died in Faringdon in the 4thQuarter 1862.
I have collated all the Hedges in Faringdon from the mid 1700's to 1816 odd, to try to find a clue to his parents. Circumstantial evidence could make all 3 Hedges families in Faringdon at the time eligible.
Can anyone throw any light on this one please ?!
Soureau.
