HUDSON family~ Fyfield, Berks.~ 1841/1851/1861~

                        Cheesy Hi,
                Can anyone help me locate, William Hudson/Hutson - Born and Bapt 1827.
                                  Fyfield, Berks. and his mother, Sarah Hudson.

             I believe his father, Giles Truman, married his mum some 40 years later.

          William died 1887 in Abingdon. His wife, Catherine, died 1908 in Maidenhead.

Hi

I have checked the 1841 & 1851 census areas that contain both Fifield & Abingdon and the only William Hudson of anywhere near the right age I can find is this one

1841 HO107 - 0024 - Netherton in Fyfield
William Louch 45 Ag Lb born in county
Ann Louch age 55 born in county
William Hudson 12 Ag LAb born in county

No Sarah Hudson of a possible age in the area

1851 HO 107/1688 Fo 75 Draycott Moor
On the farm of Francis Kimber
William Hudson Serv Un aged 21 Farm LAb born Fyfield

again no possible Sarah Hudson in the area

I checked the registers for Fyfield  and the baptism is there as stated (no father mentioned) - there is no other William baptised there that above entries could apply to, the age is slightly out but perhaps the people he was living with wern't quite sure - What do you thinK

      Cheesy  Hi Debbie,

Threw me a bit.  So on checking, could Louch be Souch?  Another surname possible 
         is CALCUTT.

When the family gets to Abingdon it gets very confusing, so I'm trying to get a better idea of the family a bit earlier.

William Hudson abt 1826  Fyfield, Berkshire, England Head 
Catherine Hudson abt 1823  Fyfield, Berkshire, England Wife 
   Ram Ann Hudson abt 1846  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Daughter
Edward Hudson abt 1853  Southmore, Berkshire, England Son 
Henry Hudson abt 1858  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Son 
George Hudson abt 1860  Abingdon, Berkshire, England Son   
Thomas Sherrey abt 1844  Fyfield, Berkshire, England Son-in-law   
Penelope Sherrey abt 1846  Fyfield, Berkshire, England Daughter-in-law
William Sherrey abt 1849  Southmore, Berkshire, England Son-in-law

So I am now not sure about the earlier ones I found - It seems that William was married to a first wife before Catherine and had a daughter in 1846

I will dig some more

Whoops - Sorry - I have just checked the original of that 1861 and Ram? Anns age is clearly 5 not 15 (transcription error) so she was bvorn about 1856 which fits between the briths of the two sons Edward & Henry

             This is really great, thank you for your trouble. I may get to the bottom of this very confusious family of mine !!
I'm at work, so from memory.  Rose Ann is the daughter of Catherine, Catherine's first husband was Shewry, then William Hudson, it's William's mum Sarah Hudson who married 4 times after the children were born, who's putting a spanner in the works.

Is there anyone who knows where the Fyfield Hudson family came from.
I have a Harriett Hudson born 1809 in Cote Oxfordshire and died in Abingdon 1857.
She married a Thomas King born 1803 in Berkshire and died 7 February 1876 in (Dry) Sandford.  In the census Sandford and Fyfield appear to be linked.
Any information on Harriett's family would be welcome.
Could her father have been a Mark or Thomas Hudson of Cote?

Hiya,
I'm afraid I have more or less given up with Hudson and most Oxford families.
It has got to the stage where the records need going over with a comb.

I have an idea that Oxford will not allow their records online. So if you are able to get to the record office or spend a fortune, then we shall probably never know Cry
