Stopping replies to my posts.

Sometimes I reply to a post at the beginning of a thread that evolves into an ongoing saga eg smoking. How do I stop getting notified of every reply over the next weeks. Of course at the beginning they may be useful so I wouldn't want to stop them then. But after a while the flow of conversation may not be relevant to me and it becomes tedious opening and closing 5 or 6 different topics that I have lost interest in every time I log on to Rootschat.

Is there a quicker way or can I just stop the replies?

Hi Jane

When you next go to such posts, just click on the "notify" button at the bottom of the post  .............. then select "disable notification" or whatever it says ........ you should't receive any further replies for that topic!

Oh no!!

It didn't work!  My BVRI etc posts are back in my "new replies to your posts" box again this morning and will only go away if I open and close them again.

Well it was a nice thought...

Go into your profile and check the notifications and email section ...... if you are listed to recieve notifications on any topics they will be listed here ......

Find the ones you want to deselect and ensure that they are unticked.... save settings and exit.

Hopefully this does the trick for you.

oops should also have said that make sure that this option

is NOT ticked in the top partition if this section of your profile.

Does this not just stop e-mail notification rather than in your "new replies" ??

Sorry Dinie, but that is also referring to "e-mail notification" on your postings.
Everything said so far about enabling and disabling notification refers to "e-mail notification"

The problem is, that as soon as you enter a reply to any topic, even if you have switched off notification,
you will still find it in the list "Show new replies to your posts.",
and this notification is the one you can't switch off !!

Now that I have replied, although my e-mail notification is switched off (default in profile), I will also be notified of any more replies on this thread,  in the "Show new replies to your posts." list  !!
