emails about posts I have made

Hi
why do I sometimes get emails about posts and sometimes in "new replies to your posts".
these are not the same.

I have not been following up on the emails, thinking that when I log onto Rootschat, i will be reminded in "new replies".  so I have been missing some. Undecided

what is the difference ?

Hi Mary,

When you post a question you will get an email to say that there has been a reply. If however there has been two or more replies before you click on your email link you will still have received on the one email.

Hiya Mary,

You may also be getting emails if a post is moved. 

As the post hasn't changed and there are no new replies it won't appear in the "new replies" bit.

We are currently doing a bit of a clean up on the census requests board and I'm sure I rememeber moving a couple of your requests.

This would of triggered a notification to you.

Hi Mary,

you can choose whether you want to be notified by e-mail. Here are three possibilities:

1) When posting, click on "Additional Options" and you can check or uncheck the "Notify me of replies"

2) You can also click on the "Notify" button at the top of a topic at any time to turn e-mail notification on or off

3) you can enter in your profile, whether the default should be "notify"/"don't notify"

The  "Show new replies to your posts." link was added later, so now I personally find the best solution (for me) is to set the default to off, and turn it on in individual postings where I am requesting information.  If I am answering someone else's post, I can see any other replies in the "Show new replies to your posts."
