Hole in Buckinghamshire Records??
« on: Monday 20 June 05 16:36 BST (UK) »

Hi!  I'm finding what seems to be a gap in births, deaths, marriages recorded in Steeple Claydon Buck for early to mid 1800's in every on line database.

Realising that certainly this can be due to incomplete and ongoing transcription projects,  but it has also been mentioned about a fire which detroyed records.

Also,  I'm told about "Bishops Transcripts"  which may be copy of these records but are not available from on line sources.

Can anybody tell me what the real story is??

Many thanks!

Chattykatty,

Try looking at www.buckscc.gov.uk and follow the trail for local history/ record office.
You can then see if the PR's are available at Aylesbury to look at  - or not.

Also you could try the Bucks family history group as they have quite a few data bases of their own.
