 Grin

Anyone wishing for free lookups in
1861 census
for Netherton, Halesowen, Lye, Cradley, Quarry Bank, Amblecote, Oldswinford, Kingswinford, Brierley Hill and part of Quinton should have a look at the following link:

http://www.griffs4bears.co.uk/census/scripts/search61.html

Also
partial 1901 census
 for Dudley,Halesowen,Oldbury,Rowley Regis,West Bromwich & Wolverhampton:

http://uk-transcriptions.accessgenealogy.com/Worcs..htm

At the same link you can also find partial bmd for Netherton, Dudley, Haleowen, Cradley Heath, Romsley, Blackheath and Kidderminster churches.

These have certainly aided me quite a few times in my ancestor hunts.

 Cool

No problem but since I am a slow typist it would help if you paste in the details you have and I can add the rest. Save me typing the names at least!

That would be REALLY great!!  Shocked
I'll make a list tomorrow as it's getting a bit late and you can do them (or not!) at your leisure. Any help is ALWAYS appreciated.  Grin
Are you restricted to Worcs? My relations love to span the borders into Staffordshire/Shropshire which usually wastes loads of time when I ask any questions and is infuriating for both me and my angelic helper  Angry
TA very much like,

Hi Gardener,
I have attached a text file of my Yeomans families from Worcester with refernces. They all stem from a glass worker from Chance and Hunts called
Joseph Yeomans
from the 1881 census. He was born ~1834 in Quinton or Oldbury. As you will be able to see I have got no further back in time, but have managed to come forward again quite well. Smiley
There are still a few gaps that need looking into as I don't have access to either 1891 or 1901.
Of course, most important of all is go further backwards to 1861.
I don't think they appear in the 1871 census as they may have have been in America, but it might be worth a quick look.  Huh
Please don't kill yourself as I appreciate there are many others out there who also need help.  Wink
Thanks very much,
Geoff.

Your luck must be in!

R10-2976/36
Oldbury,Ecc dist Christchurch
Rood End
Joseph Yeomans,head,m,36,glass flatterner,Worcs,Oldbury
Ann Yeomans,wife,m,34,Worcs,Oldbury
William Yeomans,son,16,(see below),Worcs,Oldbury
Hannah Yeomans,dau,8,scholar,Worcs,Oldbury
Joseph Yeomans,son,6,scholar,Worcs,Oldbury
Thomas Yeomans,son,2,Worcs,Oldbury
Lucy Yeomans,dau,11 months,Worcs,Oldbury

(William's occupation is given as " which probably indicates the same as his father's, but elsewhere the do is used for ditto so I'm not entirely sure).
I'll have a go at finding them in 1861 tonight or on the weekend. Bye!

Piece of cake!

RG9-2021/16
Sub dist of Oldbury,Hamlet of Warley Wigan,Ecc dist Quinton
Rood End
Joseph Yeomans,head,m,26,glass flatttener,Worcs,Warley Wigan
Ann Yeomans,wife,m,24,Worcs,Warley Wigan
William Yeomans,son,6,scholar,Worcs,Warley Wigan
Mary Ann Yeomans,dau,2,Worcs,Warley Wigan
Elizabeth Yeomans,dau,7 months,Worcs,Warley Wigan

Imagine living at Rood End! Must have been fun ordering a pizza Grin
There was also a family with Joseph (29) and Harriet (31) Yeomans plus children (6 of them) at RG9-21021/10. This family is on the 1881 census too. Don't know if they are related.

Forgot to say that above entries are from Staff census even though Oldbury is in Worcs. I checked the 1851 Worc census (name indexed Smiley) and Joshua is not there so I presume you need to look in the Staff one for that too and I don't have that I am afraid.

Was away this weekend. You STAR.  Cool
Pizza for all at Rood End! What a great name!  Cheesy
Thanks to what you have given me, I have definitely linked to William in the American 1880 census and confirmed my suspected American relations HOORAY!  Grin
Thanks very much,
Geoff.

This might just help me with one of my brick walls!  I just tried the 1861 search and found this entry:

Superintendant
Registrar's District Registrar's
Sub-District Piece E.D. Ecclesiastical
District
Stourbridge Kingswinford RG 09-2072 18 Brockmoor

Residence Detail
212 COMMON

Given Name Family Name Age Grouping
WILLIAM ? FELTON 33 yrs 22893
SARAH ? FELTON 32 yrs 22893
SELINA ? FELTON 10 yrs 22893
GEORGE ? FELTON 12 yrs 22893
THOMAS ? FELTON 6 yrs 22893
MARY A. ? FELTON 2 mths 22893
SAMUEL ? FELTON 38 yrs 22894

Can someone fill in the rest?  If not, I'll just have to buy the appropriate set of CDs  Grin

Here you are

RG9-2072/25

Superintendant
Registrar's District Registrar's
Sub-District Piece E.D. Ecclesiastical
District
Stourbridge Kingswinford RG 09-2072 18 Brockmoor

Residence Detail
212 COMMON

Given Name Family Name Age Grouping
WILLIAM  FELTON,head,m,33,pudler,Salop,Hors Hay
SARAH  FELTON,wife,m,32,Staffordshire,Swindon
SELINA  FELTON,dau,10,scholar,Salop, Horse Hay
GEORGE A FELTON,son,12,Staffordshire,Swindon
THOMAS M FELTON,son,6,scholar,Staffordshire,Wolverhampton
MARY Ann  FELTON,dau,2 mths,Staffordshire,Kingswinford
SAMUEL  FELTON,brother,widr,38,pudler, Salop, Horse Hay

The "Felton" was queried because the bar of the "t" goes through the "l" too, so it could be a "t". And the "e" could be  a "u". If the names fit otherwise you should be OK though.

That matches very well . . . definitely Felton.  The key new data is the birth of Selina in Horsehay.  I should now be able to track them back through the census.  My brickwall is with William's Father, John.  There are about 8 possibles for him and I need to find him in the census to get back further.

Thanks very much!

Hi,

I am fairly new to this site and have just come accross your posting. The site you mention for 1861 lookup is pretty good I found it some time back... but not very informative.
I have four family groups from this site would you be able to fill in the missing data for me.
I would be very grateful

Thanks Williams

Hi there. Shouldn't be a problem. Could you copy and past each entry and then I'll look them up. It is nice to get the extra info but it would have doubled the work to included them on that site.
