Hi jeanette

Have you any further details on this Turnbull Family

I have george Turnbull born 1810 Scotland though his daughter Eleanor was born and bap in Hawick, Roxburghshire.

George was one of at least 9 children born between 1801 and 1823 to Willaim Turnbull and Ann. William was born about 1780 but states in 1841 Northumberlnd census that he was born in the county. I was just wondering how one child could be born in Scotland though the rest, before and after him state they are from Northumberland (mainly Kirknewton and Chillingham areas)

Hello to All RootsChat Members,

Hello Carol,
At this stage I have no further information on this family.
I am hoping that this Topic will bring forward that information.

My direct TURNBULL Family connection (as we know it), is stated on another Topic which I have posted at the following URL.

Thomas TURNBULL - Merchant of Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,59474.0.html

In my travels in trying to find the relevant Family connections, I have come across so many Thomas TURNBULLs. The reason I am interested in this TURNBULL Family,  is that the birth date of this Thomas, seems to fit in with the correct time frame that I am researching.

Also the names of the Parents and Siblings of Thomas are similar to other names that have been carried on throughout the generations within our family.

I have also found the book 'Rulewater and It's People' by George Tankred, a most valuable source of information in researching the Roxburghshire area.

The Topic below is of relevance:

Rulewater and It's People.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,59474.0.html

Hope we can be of assistance to each other in the near future.

Hi Jeanette

Thanks for the reply

I have looked at your previous post for Turnbull and will keep it in mind for  my research as it goes further back (hopefully)

I have managed to locate George's parents but just need to find out where and when they got married and then I should be able to get the details of their birth places. The dates for George's father, William are approximately the same as mine so there could be a link though I do not want to jump to too many conclusions - been there, done that and not been overly impressed with myself afterwards -

So Good luck with your search and I will keep you in my file for a later date when I hopefully will be in touch with more details

Hi
re the George Turnbull that married Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson I have a document from a K**** Y****** (Name Hidden unless you already know them) which details the descendents of John Wilson (Betty's G'father) It extends to 69 pages of Word Doc and has all sorts of info including some wills and also news reports and biographical details.

Doesn't help earlier than George but may have other info that would be useful.

My Link is via Betty's sister Margaret marrying William Beck.

p.m. me if you want a contact with the person who's document is mentioned above.

Hello U3,

First I would suggest you read all of the Postings on this Topic, and on the related Topic which I have Posted at the following Link:

Topic: 'Thomas TURNBULL - Merchant of Hawick, [b]Roxburghshire, Scotland.'
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,59474.0.html

This will give you an idea of the names I am researching and related names.

The 'TURNBULL' names I have detailed are my GGG Grandparents & GGGG Grandparents.

The areas of Roxburghshire that my ancestors had a connection to, that we know of at present are:
Hawick, Lanton, Bedrule, Minto, Southdean, possibly others.

Kelso has not come up as yet, within the 'TURNBULL' & associated family lines.

*  There is a Margaret (sibling of my GGG Grandfather).
*  We do not have a Marg(a?)ret Marshal TURNBULL.
*  The surname of MARSHAL has not appeared.
*  'MARSHAL', is more than likely a direct maiden name, of your Grandmother's ancestors.

*  What was your Great Grandfather's name ?
*  Do you have any other names and dates ?

Also suggest Posting separate 'Topics' relevant to your own research, this can only benefit you.

Hope I have been of some help.
Jeanette H.

Hello Gilbert,

Sorry I could not get back to you before this, but we have been away for a couple of days.

Welcome to my 'TURNBULL' Topic (which is one of two 'TURNBULL' Topics) I have posted on Roxburghshire.

The other Topic is below:

Thomas TURNBULL - Merchant of Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,59474.0.html

You said that you have a George TURNBULL (born 1818 in Howick).  [Do you mean Hawick?]

If you visit the other Topic, you will see that I also have a George TURNBULL (born in 1818, in Hawick, Roxburghshire, Sct.)

Could this be the same person?

I would be interested in hearing about your George TURNBULL connections.

Hello Gilbert,

Just curious, what would be your connection with this George TURNBULL (ch 2nd April 1818, Hawick, Rox. Sct.)?

I am rather confused at the present, as the George TURNBULL (who is my GG Grandfather - was ch. 2nd April 1818, Hawick, Rox. Sct.).
His Parents were Thomas TURNBULL & Jean (Jane) VEITCH.

My George TURNBULL, Emigrated to Australia, Married in Australia, and had Children in Australia.
