hi,
Don't know if this could be a connection, but my Gt gt gt gt grandfather was Patrick McInerney, brother Daniel McInerney and Patricks son John McInerney(b.1809. d. 1872, Australia)

All from Limerick.

Patrick McInerney married a Margaret O'Brien, and his son John married Bridget Quinlan.

I have two MCINERNEY Limerick connections in my family.

My great-grandmother Catherine Theresa MCINERNEY (b Limerick, 2 Mar 1875) was the daughter of Patrick MCINERNEY (Shipwright) and Catherine O'BRIEN.  She married Philip Edward GUMMER in 1898 in Malta.

Philip Edward GUMMER's mother was also a MCINERNEY - Margaret MCINERNEY (b Limerick, 28 Nov 1847) was the daughter of Edward MCINERNEY (Shipwright) and Anne MINIHAN.  She married Henry Francis GUMMER in Limerick in 1871

As yet I don't know anything else about the other members of the relevant families, so if anyone has anything they can add I would be very grateful!

hi louisag

Thank you for your post.  I cannot link to these McInerney's at the moment, but they are most likely related.  I do have some information on Patrick and Catherine and also Edward and Anne that I have got in Ireland as I have been researching.  I shall send you it by personal message, but it may be a few days time as things are a bit hectic at the moment.  Smiley

I've just discovered that my great-grandmother was one Bridget McInerney, born 1885 in Limerick, daughter of a Samuel McInerney, who was a carpenter. She married Harold foster in 1908, and had a daughter called Mary Margaret Foster in 1909, still in Limerick, and also a son around 1914 called Gerald Patrick Foster (birth date may have been 1915, and was 22nd February). They later moved to Leeds. Harold was an english soldier at the local barracks, the same age as her. I've had no luck beyond finding a marriage record for  Bridget and Harold and a birth record for Mary. I assume Samuel McInerney would have been born between 1840 and 1865. On the marriage record, the witnesses are one John McInerney of 4 Roches Row, Limerick and one Mary Greene of 12 Bowman Street. Bridget's address was given as Mt Pleasant Avenue (harold's was the barracks). They were married at St Joseph's RC, apparently. Samuel was dead by the time of the marriage, but I don't know what year he died. I also don't know what relation John McInerney is, but I suspect uncle or cousin. Possibly brother, of course. Could be the same John mentioned above, even!
Not sure if these are part fo the limerick McInerneys you're after.
Does this sound like anyone on anyone else's tree?
thanks
Andy Foster
