Looking for Info: Rainbow

Hi there, I am new to these boards so I hope I am following along on the right way to do things.

i have records that tell me the Rainbow Family originating in Hertsfordshire immigrated to Australia sometime between 1821 and 1864. I have the name Joseph Rainbow (son of Thomas and Mary ?) Christening date - 12 Sept 1790. I might be fishing for straws but I am hoping to furnish more details if possible.

Hi Jaki

I don't know how helpful this is but I have a Jabez Rainbow who was transported to Van Diemnen's Land in 1842.  During my research I have found erroneous information linking him to a Joseph Rainbow who was also transported to VDL. 

As far as I know Joseph has no connection with Jabez.  If my memory serves me correctly Joseph was transported in 1829 from Hertfordshire for horse stealing.   He went on to marry Elizabeth Bennett.   Could this be the same man?

ps I think we're on the wrong board - should be Hertfordshire not Herefordshire?

Thankyou for this info Smiley I dont think it is the same family ... as I am pretty certain they were free settlers.. (Well as free as any lol) I guess some things remain a mystery.. too many years passed!

And yes it ought to be on the other  board but I must have mis-read this!  Embarrassed
