Looking for Benjamin Crabb born in Loders Dorset.

He died in 1881 in Bridport, was married to Ann and had a son called Benjamin married to Carloine nee Childs

Do any of you ,have this man in your family tree or can help with look ups for this area 1851/41

1841 Census

Benjamin Crabb: age 30: ag lab.
Ann Crabb: age 30.
Elizabeth Crabb: age 6.
Masinah Crabb: age 4.
Emma Crabb: age 2.
Ellen Crab: age 2 months.

Address: Up Loder, Loders.

There are 95 members of the Crabb family, residing at Loders.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

I am really stuck I have Benjamin married to Caroline Childs Bridport January 1853 His father was Benjamin but which one ..........? also found what seems to be them in 1861 but there is a Ann Buckler sister-in-law to Benjamin unmarried living with them but my Ann is a Childs on the marriage.

Any idea's please................... Huh

Hi again,

In the 1881 Census, there is a Benjamin Crabb with wife Caroline and their two children George and Hannah. Benjamin is aged 50 and born  Shipton George.

In the 1840 Census, there is a Benjamin Crabb born Shipton George, age 11. He is living with a John Crabb aged 40 and six other members of the Crabb family. The ages range from 20 to 2 years. John's wife is not present on the Census, so therefore he could be a widower?

How do you know Benjamin jnrs mother was Ann? Have you any other info from the certificates you have, even down to the witnesses?

This Hannah in 1881 is my greatgrand mother,and I only know that Ann(anna) is Benjamin jur mother through family lore.

And I should have wriiten "My Caroline is a Childs on the marriage"

And I have Benjamin's father as Benjamin

Hi,
There is a possibility that the Benjamin jnr living with John Crabb in the 1841 Census, could be a grandfather / grandson relationship. You never know! He could have been visiting just for the night

If you look at the "snippet" of the 1851 Census, there is only one digit out in the folio and page No
Suggesting to me they are related! Father and son?

In the 1841 Census the info is sparce, ie, not showing the relationship or where they were born.

The only thing I can suggest is to start a new thread asking for the 1851 Census.
