1861 census lookup for GREEN
« on: Monday 27 June 05 08:30 BST (UK) »

Hello from Australia,

A friend who does lookups for us in the UK is having trouble finding her family in Cheshire and we are hoping someone may be able to help us help her.

George GREEN (!), age 55, born Wheelock. He was a Boatman on the Trent & Mersey canal and could be anywhere in Cheshire, but may have been around the Sandbach area.
Wife is Ann Green c. 47 yrs.
Children :Eliza Ann 1837, Henry 1843, George 1845, Enoch 1847, Julia Ann 1850, James 1852

Enoch, aged 13, is in Wolstanton Staffs on a boat with a Maurice Owen in the 1861.

We have not been able to find them. Can anyone help ?

Hi
There is nothing obvious showing up in the 1861 census, where were the family in 1851 or 1871 ? and in which area of Cheshire were the children and mother born.

Hi
I have not been able to find a great deal but here are the details I did find.

1851 HO107-2168-Folio 15  Etteley Heath Sandbach

Eliza Green head 13 housekeeper Sandbach
George        son 5
Enoch                3

obviously the "head"is not true but she is home alone.

1861 RG9-2614-Folio 26 Etteley Heath Rootiery? Bridge Sandbach

Eliza A Green daug unwed 22 housekeeper Sandbach.

again home alone.

I did search the 1841 for Sandbach/Wheelock but nothing, sorry

Thank you so much for looking for us.
We have sent what you found to our friend.
Maybe she has details of where the others were born.

Our friend has got back to us with what she knows and we are hoping someone may be able to help as she has done so much for us.

George Green (father) bap 1811 at Warmingham , but of Elton. (81 says born
Sandbach).
Ann (wife) born 1814 Macclesfield.
Henry (son) born 1843 Wheelock - later census says Sandbach.
George (son) born 1845/6 Sandbach.
Julia (daur) born 1850 Elworth.
James (son) born 1852 Ettiley Heath/Sandbach. Alive in 81.

Her line is Henry and we could not find him in 1871 for her

Henry married Betsy Holland in 1868. Having lots of trouble with him. Birth
not registered. Cannot find bap. Have marr cert; 81 & 91 census, and
death/burial/grave details for 1900.

Can anyone help ?
