I should be very grateful to know of anybody who has a parish record in the Hull area for the birth or baptism of Thomas Acklam. I know from census returns that Thomas was born in about 1805 and initially worked as a hand weaver. He moved to Barnsley where he became a prominent Chartist. He died in Barnsley in 1876.

Hi Ackee
Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.
Have you made any progress, or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes

Hi Ackee, I have had a look through the Holy Trinity & Sculcoates baptisms around this date and the only entry for an Acklam Baptism is on the 18th May 1807 In Holy Trinity for an Elizabeth, Parents William & Sarah Acklam. Hoping this points you in the right direction, Gogogadgetlegs.

Ticker,
Thanks for your enquiry. Progress on this strand has been limited but the 1861 census shows that Thomas was born in Cottingham, just outside Hull and by calculation between 8 April 1804 and 7 April 1805. Any help on precise date and parents' names would be appreciated.
Thomas' life looks increasingly interesting. He was prominent inChartist activities in Barnsley, and was a signatory to the Barnsley Manifesto of 1838.
