Baads or Bauds of Cullen, Rathven COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 05 January 08 01:51 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone know if Baads and Bauds of Cullen Rathven are the same place?  The online census for 1841 says Baads is in one enumeration district, and Bauds in another.  Any ideas?

I believe that there is only one - Bauds of Cullen but you should go to this website which has much more information:

It's the same. I surmise that the difference in spelling arises because the two enumerators had different ideas about how it should be spelled.

Moray Local Heritage informed me that Baads and Bauds are the same.  The districts were often divided up into smaller portions, hence different numbers for the same location.  (easier for the enumerators)
Thank you for your input.  Lynne
