i am trying to trace a Benjamin A Holland who Emigrated from Norway to Illinois Usa in 1870.
Any information would be grateful.

This was only hit for years 1851-1900 in all of Illinois
Hannah used initial "S" in 1910 Census
Is “Helland” a variation for “Holland” or just error?
When I looked at actual image could be “e “or could be “o”.
But for marriage and census record to be a consistent error, would be rare.
But then look at Hannah’s maiden name variation?!

the Norwegians had very different naming practices that we are used to. If you are wanting to track this family backwards to Norway then this list is one you want to join

Helland is a farm-name in Norway, that would probably be where the name comes from.

First name 'Benjamin' could be Bendek, Bender, Bendex, Bendich, Bendig - all these are present on the 1865 census.
