Hi Amanda,

If its your Grandads parents you're after you'll have to get his Birth certificate, same with your nan, and their  parents names will be on them.
You then try and work back from there, you'd start by looking at the 1901 census and so on for your Gt Grandparents with their families.

Hi Amanda,
AS the other person said get the certificate but you only need one if it is their marriage as both your Grandfathers parents and Grandmothers parents are on that this gives you the info to search deeper.

Hi Hudggy,

The reason why i suggested getting birth certs for them both is because i thought she wanted to know who the parents were for her Nan + her Grandad.
With a Marraige cert you only get the Fathers name, sometimes you dont get much forward with just the fathers name...(talking from experience, and then i've still had to get the birth cert )

Hi Caz,
The marriage cert gives both the bride and grooms parents thats why I suggested it that way you only have the expence of one certificate if you dont have it already.

Hi Hudggy

I've just realised where this posting is......Scotland Board.

Sorry, my mistake, on our marraige certs we only have the Father's name put down for the bride and groom.

Forgot the Scottish are more lucky than us for their Certificates.

My Apologies

Hi Amanda,
I bought several certificates for you happily.
I did say, with the info  from the extract you have on the Birth of your grandfather, you need to contact scotlands bdm
to get the full certificate, IT WON"T COST MUCH.
then go from there.
with the extra info, re bothers and sisters marrying.
I am presuming that, they all married after 1928.
Do you know of any of the siblings dying at a young age before 1958.?

All in all............
You are going to have to buy that birth certificate!

I'll wait for your reply.
