1871 ABERDEENSHIRE (Peterhead) FRASER

I hope someone can help me get over a major hurdle I have come up against.

I am looking for a James (or potentially James Stephen) Fraser who was born December 15, 1867 in Millbank, Boddam.  His mother was Margaret Fraser.   He was an illegitimate child and no father name appears.

I cannot locate either Margaret or James on the 1881 or the 1891 Census.  James S. Fraser does appear in the 1901 census with his wife Jessie (they married in 1892).

I am hoping that someone may be able to find Margaret and James on the 1871 census so I can at least determine Margaret's age and hopefully where she was born.  I have been down so many possibilities with Margaret Fraser and where she could have come from.  Just when I think I have it all figured out, I discover it's the wrong trail I am following.

Can anybody help?
