Hi Guys
I'm desperately trying to find out when my G Grandfather died.
My Nan seems to think it was about 1963 and he died in Stamford hospital. His death would have been registered at Stamford district, Lincolnshire.
He was called George Moss. He was cremated in Marholm on the outskirts of Peterborough.
If someone could look him up for me that would be great.
Kind Regards
Paul

Hi For information on the exact date of death and the date of the funeral, (although not the GRO number) you could try contacting Peterborough City Council. Their Cemeteries/Cremation dept, based at Marholm Crematorium have the records indexed. I have found them extremely helpful in my research. Their direct Telephone Number is 01733 262639. Try phoning them with the info you have - as I believe their records are alphabetical, they should be able to 'find someone' by their surname even if you are sketchy on the actual date of death.

Hi Carole
That was my last resort as I did not know how they filed their paperwork.
I did however phone them today and success they have found him in 1963 June 13th.
I have ordered the cert online which cost £3 more than normal as I did not have the GRO index but that doesnt matter.
Thanks for your help Carole

Hi Paul Glad to be of help. When I made contact with the Council at Marholm Crematorium for info on where some of my ancestors were buried, one of their employees even met me at one of the graveyards in Peterborough to show me the location of a grave. I was further pleased to find this particular grave had a headstone. No doubt I could have found it myself after a few hours searching the grounds, but their offer saved me time. Anyway, all the best, Carole
