Am trying to find the Dennis family around Twogates area. Last one found Albert Victor who married Caroline Annie Mottram. His father was Jesse Dennis (possibly Cornish roots) who married a woman called Henrietta. No more info than that, can't find them on the census, bit stuck!
Also, George Venables who married Sarah Turner from Ireland. George was in the barracks in wittington/wiggington North Staffs band master at one time.
Redfern also (workhouse) Nelly, May, Edith Margaret&Elsie latter of two being sisters (edith my gran died 1997).
If anyone knows any info or can help, would be very grateful

Caroline Annie Mottram born approx 1901. Albert Victor Dennis born approx 1897 according to the mormon 'family search' website. My Grandmother is getting quite old now so information is a bit patchy! Still waiting for my great uncle to get in touch to see if he can offer any more!! as for the others, not really much of an idea but trying all sorts to find out!

Hi again. It looks as though the Dennis lot may have been living around Polesworth in 1901. The entries below are from www.census.pro.gov.uk for all with surname Dennis living in civil parish of Polesworth (not far from Two Gates).
Name Age Where Born Administrative County Civil Parish Occupation Albert Dennis 1 Warwickshire Polesworth Warwick Polesworth Annie Dennis 21 Warwickshire Kettlebrook Warwick Polesworth Evelyn Dennis 1M Warwickshire Polesworth Warwick Polesworth Francis Dennis 24 Derbyshire Church Gresley Warwick Polesworth On Setter In Colliery Harry Dennis 21 Baddesley Warwickshire Polesworth Coal Loder Belowground Henrietta Dennis 2 Warwickshire Polesworth Warwick Polesworth Henrietta Dennis 25 Warwickshire Warton Warwick Polesworth Henry Dennis 52 Leicestershire Measham Warwick Polesworth Coal Miner Hewer Jesse Dennis 27 Derbyshire Wood Gresley Warwick Polesworth Coal Miner Holer Jessie Dennis 3 Warwickshire Polesworth Warwick Polesworth John Dennis 55 Durham Warwick Polesworth Coal Miner Hewer Mary Dennis 13 Warwickshire Polesworth Warwick Polesworth Sarah Dennis 51 Leicestershire Measham Warwick Polesworth
From your information it is likely that Jesse (27),Henrietta (25) and Albert (1) make up your family but to be sure you will have to log on to the site and pay to see the family entry.
Then, from the www.familysearch.org site there is the following:
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability Henry DENNIS Head M Male 32 Measham, Derby, England Coal Miner Sarah DENNIS Wife M Female 31 Measham, Derby, England Agnes DENNIS (Daur) Female 10 Ch Gresley, Derby, England Scholar Frank DENNIS (Son) Male 4 Ch Gresley, Derby, England Scholar Jesse DENNIS (Son) Male 7 Ch Gresley, Derby, England Scholar Rosannah DENNIS (Daur) Female 1 Ch Gresley, Derby, England
~~~~~~~~ Source Information: Dwelling Gresley Wood Cottages Census Place Church Gresley, Derby, England Family History Library Film 1341660 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 2757 / 60 Page Number 24
That seems to account for some of the other people at Polesworth so gives you a lot to go on once you have verified the 1901 data. Lucky you to still have a grandma to help Looks like you'll have your work cut out chasing them round the counties even if they didn't move far! Two Gates is Staffs, Polesworth is Warwickshire, and Church Gresley is Derbyshire but they are all close to each other and within spitting distance of Leicestershire (and not that far from Worcestershire!). Unless you are born and brought up in that part of the world I think you will need a good map
