Hello to all,

If someone could check the following family in 1871, I'd be very appreciative.

Kenneth McKenzie      approx 40 yrs       carter
Ann                                 "         "
Alexander                                17
Ann                                          16
Margaret                                  12
Catherine                                 10
Donald                                       8

The children were born in Elgin.

Details from the 1871 Census

Kenneth McKenzie aged 44 head of family, married, Carter born in Inverness

Ann McKenzie aged 38 Carters wife born in Morayshire,

Alexander aged 16 Son Single a butcher by occupation

Kenneth aged 14 Son Single, at home papersboy

Margaret aged 12 Daughter, Domestic Servant

Catherine aged 10 Daughter, Scholar

Donald aged 7 Son

Mary aged 2 Daughter

Thank you so much!  This family has been such a pain!  Family lore has always said they came from Inverness.  Close, but....

Also found his death.

Kenneth MacKenzie, died on May 12th 1878 in New Elgin aged 51 years.

His Parents are listed as being

Father - Faquhar macKenzie a Horse dealer

Mother - Margaret macKenzie nee MacKenzie

cause of death was tubercular Disease of the Lung.

Death was registered by Alexander his son ( done with a mark so obviously could not write)

his wife's name is listed as being Ann MacKenzie nee McKay
