The only Amos in 1841 Selkirk is  William Amos aged 19 if thats any good.

Does it indicate if her was born in the county,his occupation and who he is living with?

hi again , would you kindly see if walter scott & isabella scott nee ritchie are at selkirk. in the 1841 census
not sure if they would  be at selkirk or yarrow.

walter Scott born abt 1783 abt age 58
isabella ritchie wife 1785 they had the following children abt age 56

isabella scott 1814  age abt 27
john scott1816               abt 25
andrewscott1818  abt 23
robert scott1820 abt 21
james scott1822  abt 19
margret scott1824 abt 17
catherine scott 1826 abt 15
walter scott 1829 abt 12
all apparently born yarrow

Elizabeth waugh age 25 Born in county:No
Robert Waugh 4 Born in county: Yes
Elizabeth waugh 2 Born in county: No
Janet Robson 60 Born in county: No

Their address was given as Todrig in Selkirk in 1841.

Hi,

I wonder if you could look up Thomas and Margaret Scott. Their youngest child appears to have been born in Selkirk in Jan 1841 so I'm hoping to find them plus several of their children.

Unfortunately I know nothing else about them so far.

Are you sure this is the 1841 census and not the 1851? The children's names are right but they seem about 10 years too old!

It is the 1851 census, forgot the date have adjusted accordingly.

They looked the nearest to what you said, though there are a lot of Scot families in Selkirk.

Asking someone for the 1851 census was going to be my next question! This certainly seems to be the right family if the IGI is to be believed. I don't suppose you have the 1841 census too do you? Smiley

Address: Water Row, Selkirk

You probably have this already, but Margaret's (mother) maiden name was LYON.
