Hello Berlin-Bob,

I have a couple of those funny error messages:

BATESON Dimps (Norfolk);
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/vhosts/surname.rootschat.net/sit-main.php on line 734

Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource
in /home/vhosts/surname.rootschat.net/sit-main.php on line 780

I entered my surnames and when I checked them I noticed an error message for just this surname.  I deleted it and tried again - and ended up with two error messages!  This is not an "O'Crikey" name (although my name is Deborah O'Crikey Grin - well, almost).  I don't think I did anything different when entering this name.

So there you have it...

Hi Dimps

You Fibber !!!!
Quote from: Dimps
This is not an "O'Crikey" name

'tis too !!
Quote from: SIT
BOYLE & O'BOYLE

I'm not sure if it's the & or the O' it is objecting to, but i'll look into it !

Hang in there, help is on the way  Grin

ps: delete the entry, then enter Boyle and O'Boyle as two sepeate entries, otherwise you won't show up if anyone else is searching for BOYLE or for O'BOYLE and YOU are definitely the only one searching for "BOYLE & O'BOYLE"

HINT:  try "SHOW all for the entered name" with "boy" "and "within word"

I administrate a web based form thingy - yeh ok I didn't develop it, hence it still being a "thingy".

The ' character was a big problem when it was initially built.  They put a fix in so that when the ' character was submitted it changed automatically to a ` character (the one on the key next to the no 1) this didn't have the same problems.

Dimps

I also still have 2 of these warnings against my surname of NICHOLSON and this name does not have an 'O' in front of it!!!
It only appears when I ask for 'Show all with my surname interests'.

The error messages actually refer to the next name in the list ....

so for christmack, that's O'BRIAN

and for Dimps thats BOYLE & O'BOYLE

Hi Jan,

we complain about changes of names in censuses, but now I (in my role as SIT Admin) am also complaining about changes of names   Grin

You originally entered your names as jan1234 (names changed to protect the innocent !)

SIT is now finding an entry for Lloydy with an ID-number that has already been issued to jan1234 , hence the message:

Either the chatter-name or chatter_id is wrong

I have changed the name in SIT to Lloydy and it should now work - Give it a try !!

Message to All:

If you change your RootsChat name, after you have entered names in the SIT

                           Let me know !!!

It is no problem to change if, if I know it needs changing !!

Love and Kisses,

You can do this now, either a new line with your "other" Jones, or EDIT the text of the original !

Grin Phew - am adding my names at last, I always put off doing anything thats vaguely technical cos I'm bound to make a B**** Up of it - just have to say a huge thanks to Bob and Rootschat for making it so easy! I love it... Grin

One question though - with London Ancestors pre 1900 would other Rootschatters who are searching prefer to see just London or the place with a County...ie Greenwich Kent, Poplar Middlesex  Huh

ADDING SURNAMES
« Reply #41 on: Thursday 12 May 05 13:41 UTC (UK) »

G'Day Bob.
When trying to add further surnames to my list, I get a little note saying 'Either CHATTER-NAME or CHATTER-ID is wrong. Had no trouble in the past.
Can you advise?
Thanks,
Bob Roberts.

Hi Bob,

problem solved !

Your original entries were for Chatter-ID 13061 and Chatter-Name = Bob Roberts

In the meantime you have changed your chatter-name to SHOTLEY50, so SIT said that 13601 was already taken by someone who isn't called SHOTLEY50 or that no ID for SHOTLEY50 was found.

I've now changed your name in SIT to SHOTLEY50

Cheers,
Bob

Message to EVERYBODY !

If you change your RootsChat Name.

let me know and I can change the SIT accordingly !!

Hi
I don't have any problem with the surname site itself in regard to finding my surname interest. What i was wondering is.Why do i have to go to,The Common Room then Surname Interest then Surname interest Table (sit) Then log in to surname interest. Before i can get to it, which is the only way i can.Using the link to the surname interest at the bottom of the page doesn't work for me.It always tells me i must be registered or logged in.I am both. According to the log in page i am not logged in ,when i go back i am Huh I have just tried again same result,am i missing something here Huh

Celia
P.S according to the RootsChatters on line there are 5  at 13.35.I am as well but i am not there as being so.I am invisible BooHoo Cry

Hi Celia,

I don't understand that .... I have used the link at the bottom of any page both at home and at work, without any problems.

As long as you are logged in when you click on that link, it should work.

Try PMing Trystan, see if he can think of anything.

Bob
