Perth,
The census entry which reads 'receiving town pay' means that the person would have been receiving money from the Board of Guardians in the form of poor relief.
As part of the Rothwell Urban District Council records that West Yorkshire Archives at Sheepscar, Leeds hold they have poor relief application books which cover 1849-1869.
It's just a matter of arranging to visit the Archives office and viewing the entry for Mary Sidebottom.

Perth,
No neither did I until I asked, and an appointment made to investigate further.
Newspapers articles about the roof fall have proved a blank, despite looking at four local newspapers for the time.
But hey we got lucky with the gravestone.

I have a copy of the parish records up to 1763 and marriages to 1812 its the missing bits in between these dates and the start of the gro that i would like to see.
This was in one of your first messages. What do you mean by that and have we answered it yet?
As I see it you would like to know the baptisms, marriages and deaths of those of your relations before 1837, and maybe the some afterwards. I know you already have some certificates, perhaps you could give us some ideas of the things you would like to know that we could help you here as opposed of what you could find out where ever you are.

Okay, will have a look out for those, probably on Fiche at Leeds. Yes it's strange about the no show for the roof fall, as other losses of life of miners at other coal mines in the area are reported on. I can only suggest that it could be geography-Rothwell is not Wakefield nor is it Leeds.

Perth,
Marriage of Samuel Ward and Hannah Priestly c 6/3/1821. Who are the fathers shown and is this the right date?
Yes it is the right date, 6th March, 1831, it was a Saturday, according to 258 of the Marriage book of Rothwell marriages, entry number 773, Samuel Ward & Hannah Priestly married by banns, no parents listed, but witnesses were Thomas & Ann, no surnames, both make their marks as do the married couple.
Birth and death of the above Samuel. He would have been born around 1800 and I think he died between 1829 and 1833.
Samuel Ward was baptised on 12th January, 1800 at Rothwell, parents, Benjamin and Ellen Ward, Samuel was born 2nd August, 1799 at Carlton.
Samuel Ward was buried on 12th June, 1831 at Rothwell Graveyard, aged 31. His wife remarried in 1833 to Benjamin Speight: Yes 10th February, 1833 but no mention of marital status of either of the couple, witnessed by William Taylor and Elizabeth Bower? not clear of her name. On Mary Ward's marriage to Charles Sidebottom it doesn't say that Samuel is deceased so would like to make sure: Did not take these details with me, will look another day Elizabeth Blackburn christened 25/12/1819: When was she born and are the parents William Blackburn and Sarah Snowden?
Baptism date confirmed. parents shown as as William & Sarah Blackburn, no mention of maiden name of Sarah, (this was usual practice, did not check marriage will do if you want) Rothwell Parish Baptisms Fiche P/91/1/10/ 9198L (Number 2 of 4)
Other stuff:
William Ward buried Rothwell 07 05 1830, as infant, lives at Carlton. Burials: Rothwell Parish Burials Fiche: P/91/4/2 9324L
