he was an Ostler in the employ of the Moyes, hotelkeepers in Lincoln in the 1851 census
HO107; Piece: 2105; Folio: 245; Page: 4, Lincoln St Mary le Wigford, 176 High Street
Birthplace shown as Surfleet, circa 1824
A possible candidate in the 1861 census in Islington, but shown as birthplace Wisbech (not that far from Surfleet).
RG9; Piece: 148; Folio: 127; Page: 11, Islington East, 48 High Street
Frederick (circa 1823) was a Boarder at Edward Stevens Coffee shop. Occupation Coachman.
He is shown as married.

what do you think about this man in the 1881 census?
RG11; Piece: 239; Folio: 82; Page: 44, Islington, 13 Dorset St
The birthplace could be a total mistake - he is the right age and occupation.

Hi Mort29,
Thanks for the info. will have a look at what you suggested.
The problem is his wife, the 1857 Kensington marriage says Hannah Butcher, but the 1871 census says Anna Maria from Oxford, have not yet tried to get a cert. for him as unsure about his wife's name and can't afford to make too many mistakes in that respect.
The Horsey theme goes through from 1851 to death when shown as cab driver. The 51/91 show Surfleet, but can't make the 71 census out re Frederick, I did have a 81 census but that was a load of rubbish so ignored it, will have to try again.

spent some time on the wife; I suspect if her Birthplace is Seymour Green, that is in the Watlington area, near Henley.
Did not really help though.
I just picked the census years where you had denoted a ? mark
