John Ramsay of Barra of Bourtie
« Reply #15 on: Saturday 22 December 07 00:21 GMT (UK) »

I have downloaded the will of John Ramsay who died 23rd Oct 1832. There is mention of Old Meldrum turnpike and his subscription to the New Udny turnpike.  Properties named are Craigie, Strulloch, Seatieton, Middlelton Blair, Wester Disblair and (Torry or) Ferry Leith.

May the local folk who recognise these place names forgive my interpretation !

Tenants are not listed against their farms but there are Alexanders by the names of George ,John and Peter figure.

Happy to send copies of the dozen pages. Lots of local names .

I would be very interested to hear from you about John Ramsay of Barra.  I have a Will that mentions John Innis Ramsay and his son John Ramsay of Barra.  The Will is dated 1838 but deals with things that happened in 1798.
