Hello everyone,
I am related to a Katherine Ramsay who married a George Scott about 1704, possibly in Gamrie.
I believe she was the sister of Margaret Ramsay, wife of Patrick Lesley.
I also believe that both girls were the daughters of John Ramsay of Laithers and Melross. He died about 1708 and his second wife Mary Forbes married as her second husbands James Buchan of Auchmacoy.
I am sure that at least Margaret is the daughter of John and his first wife Elizabeth Frazer of Tyrie. There was a sasine in Feb 1680 that stated she was his wife. His second marriage took place in 1699.
He had at least four children by his second wife, John, Mary, Bathia and James.
His parents were James Ramsay and Margaret Meldrum.
Hope that helps, there is more of course.
All the best,
Brian

I see that James Gardiner and Elizabeth Sandison were married in Auchterless on 24 Jan 1850. Like all family connections it is a long story BUT

My grt grt uncle James Errington Ross married Jemima Milne the daughter of Alexander Milne (1804-1877) of Blairshinnoch  .
Alexander's sister Margaret Milne was born at Boyndie ,Alvah,Banffshire in 1805 and married none other than Alexander Wallace Gardiner (1807 -1871) J.P. and proprietor of 76 acres ,Gamrie.

We find them all at Greenshairs , Gamrie on the census of 1861.

Their children were
Jane Milne Gardiner b 1835c
James Milne Gardiner b1831 lately "Emiling"? in the U.S.A,
Margaret Ann Gardiner b 1837 c,
John Milne Gardiner 1833-1852 and
listed also is James' wife Rebecca aged 26 born in Ireland with her dtr Margaret Milne aged 2 born in Kentucky.U.S.A.
Alexander Wallace Gardiner jnr( 1841-1858)

I was given the 1902 handwritten history of the Milne family going back to 1605 and it makes interesting reading. We Scots really did roam the earth -and this James is married to a Rebecca Walker!

Thankyou so much for getting back. Do you have any information on Jeanie Milne Gardner born 1923. She may ( or may not!) be my father's sister. It depends who her parents were.

My e mail address is (*) if that helps.

Regards,

Sheila

Hello
I am looking for any information on Henriot/Henriet Leslie born 1741 twin to Alexander. From what I have found so far Henriot/Henriet is my 4th Great Grandmother.
