Unfortunately, it appears that the 1851/2 census records for Goderich no longer exist, which doesn't help. Do you know the denomination of the family?
http://www.huroncounty.ca/library/assess/mlst1842.htm - there are 1842 records for Huron which shows three Hunters in the area, John, Robert, and William, all in Tuckersmith. John and Robert appear to be living by themselves (one in household, one male over 16), whereas William has himself and two women over 16 (possibly a wife and a older daughter?).
Sadly Tuckersmith records are also missing for the 1851/2 census.
The Tuckersmith Hunters may have been Wesleyan Methodists - there are a couple of baptisms for them on the Wesleyan Methodist baptism index, both in Tuckersmith and in other areas of Huron.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wjmartin/wm-a_29.htm - here there's a baptism in Huron for a son of a James Anderson and Elizabeth, in Stephen Township - born 1856 but bap 1865, Samuel Thomas Anderson. Another here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wjmartin/wm-a_26.htm - again, bap 1865, but born in 1861. (James) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wjmartin/wm-a_24.htm - ditto, bap 1865 born 1860 (Alexander), bap 1865 born 1863 (Arthur Russell), born 1858 bap 1865 (Charles).
http://www.rootsweb.com/~onhuron/lookups.htm - there is someone here who has early Wesleyan Methodist marriages for Huron available for lookup.

Jorose, sorry I didn't reply, sometimes I don't get notifications (rogers thinks rootschat is a spam and doesn't forward it through )
Thanks for those links and information, I will follow it up, I'm not sure what religion they were actually. Just my luck the census for Goderich don't exist
Lisa, I'm not sure what James' middle name is, but I know that these Anderson's eventually moved west to Manitoba.

You could always try the "Canada Directory 1851"
I looked in Goderich, but couldn't find them.
