My family links so far go back to the mid 1700's to Ardeley and Benington in Hertford. Can anyone advise me if it would be worth my while joining the Historical Society ? what benefits does it have? I am researching from Australia. thanks a lot  Smiley Lyn

Hi Lyn

Did you mean the Hertfordshire Family History Society?

http://www.hertsfhs.org.uk/

If so, only you can decide if it would be beneficial to your research, but why not contact them and make enquiries?

Generally speaking, I have found membership of Family History Societies very useful.  You have access to other members interests, and regular contact with the society via their publications, which often contain useful articles and information.

Hello Rick. Yes I did mean the Family History Society. I've looked through the site quite a few times, and have thought of joining, but have no idea as to whether it would be helpful. AS I am researching from Australia, I don't have any idea as to the information it gives. Just wanted some other opinions before I parted with my money. thanks again ..........  Smiley Lyn
