Hi Jaq, You are taking the michael. My site is printed at the bottom of every email. But for new listeners, as well as having transcribed quite a few of the 1841 census for Essex and Suffolk, you can also search on them using the first few letters of a surname. I would do more, but all the 1851 &1861 has been indexed already (the quality of the microfiche is better here), plus it affords a lot mor info. Just for those not sure, try http://kevw.net OR http://essex1841.com - both have similar info available. Thanks to Jaq for pointing out the fact I did not mention a site/s. Do not forget the Havering Town show in Hornchurch over the bank holiday weekend, end of August -- it will be a busy one. Best Kevan

Kevan and Jaq
Thanks for the replies. Excellent site, Kevan. One of my ancestors Oatham were christened in Writtle near Chelmsford, I believe there might some more at Roxwell. I got small part of Writtle Parish Reg details there are few names which might be useful for your site, I am quite happy forward them to you.
Regards

Hi Beverley & Jaq, Firstly, Jaq - just pulling your leg! Bev, I hope this was of use, yes, any info is always gratefully received, although I prefer entire excel spreadshheets, as I am really quite lazy, really. If i find a resource, it is usually quite easy to pull it into a database format and add it to existing records. Best Kevan

Hi all, Any requests for the next 1841 census to transcribe. I will choose from the clarity of the documents. Pick a nice small village.

Writtle is a small pretty village near Chelmsford, My ancestors were born and married there until they moved down to London around 1843.
Thank you very much

Hi Bev (again), Did I mention? I have the Essex 1841 and 1861 origial census CDs as part of our raffle - to be drawn on the 26th SEptember at St Andrews parish church , Hornchurch. They are the second prize. The first prize is a whole lot better. http://essex1841.com/Kenya2005.htm

Hi Kevan... if you get bored and want to do another small village, I am interested in the Smith's at Felsted (Felstead).
Thanks, Peter.

Hi Peter, I like the imagery you have added to your signature, how do you do that? Unfortunately, I am off Essex a bit at the moment, and spending rather more time on my Suffolk folks. MODERATOR COMMENT: Charitable donation comment snipped
I have added a few 1841 Essex transcriptions recently, and will add more as I get the time. I am sure there are many of you with Suffolk ancestors, so enjoy, if of use.

Best in the genealogy search. Kevan

Hi Kevan, no problem, I think I may have some folk in Suffolk, so it is all good. My little animation was done with a couple of pics shrunk down, copies were made where I painted over the eyes to make eyelids, then all 4 pics were assembled in an Animated GIF editor... you can control the length that each pic plays. Check on www.download.com for GIF animators... should be a bunch of them.
Cheers, Peter.
