Thanks Celia - that's very much appreciated  Smiley

The problem I have is that my Gx2 Grandmother's birth certificate in 1866 gives John Biddle (sic) as her father - a labourer at a sugar refinery - & her mother as Dinah Biddle.

By the 1871 census, Dinah has changed into "Maria" Biddell (sic) and she's a widow (born Dublin, IRE). The only mention I have of John is on the birth cert so I've no idea where he was born Huh

I'm hoping that if there are other Biddles married/living in the area, they may be related.

Cheers  Grin

PS FYI - my bunch lived at 7 Upper Beckwith St, Birkenhead - address matches birth cert & 1871 census. Trying surrounding areas - just in case!

While i was waiting to use the film reader i had a look in the G.R.O Reference book. This book contains all those married in wallasey and are taken from The registers. Its says from 1837 to 1901 but their are very few 1901. It a great book because all the names are in alphabetical order.Don't know if these finding are of any relevance or you have them or not but i took them anyway.
Biddle John Staker 1890 Moreton Christchurch
           Lucy 1899                  "             "
           Frank 1899                "             "
There is only 1 McDermott Edith Mary 1853 St Hilary.
Obviously i couldn't trawl through the thick book  of corresponding numbers. To find the other halves so i cheated Grin and found them on the Cheshire B.M.D. Might as well finish the job
1890
John Staker Biddle married Jane Saunders Moreton Chrischurch.
1899
Lucy Biddle married Michael Joseph Connell. Moreton Christchurch
1899
Frank Biddle Married Margaret Eleanor Briscoe (cant remember the spelling)Moreton Chrischurch.

Celia
P.S Edith Mary seems not to have been transcibed yet so cant find her other half Sad

Hi Dizziebee
I just noticed my mistake,I don't know where St Mary keeps coming from Grin
The Pre 1837 Marriages for ST HILARY are in a book that are taken from the original registers (not by me) They go by year obviously. So i cant look up Surename only, because they start very early. Do you have an idea of the marriage year as there are lots books to look through at the library.

Its a long shot , they may not have married there at all , just that the area could be within their reach. I am trying to locate the marriage of William Summerfield b abt. 1815 in Runcorn to Mary Huh?? possibly around 1835ish but they moved between Runcorn, Birkenhead, Wallasey, Warrington , I am grasping at straws.

Thanks

St Hilary Marriage The Missing Years

I am Pleased to announce that i have now discovered the Missing Marriage Years between 1812 & 1837.
St Hilary Marriages 1744- 1865. It turned out these are the actual Banns (before 1813) Then the Marriage Certificates to 1865.
So I now have access to these marriage.
So can do a look up if required. As long as i have an approximate year.If you are not sure the marriage took place in St Hilary. The lookup will be done when next using the machine for other reasons.

Dizziebee,I looked from 1830 to 37 no luck. sorry
