« on: Wednesday 20 July 05 22:52 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone assist  with parish register lookups for St Peters St Albans (this could be St Peters London Colney or St Albans) for any information on the families of these two who both came from Tyttenhanger village, Joseph IVORY Bn c 1817 or his wife Mary Ann nee ALLEN who he married c 1837. Any information appreciated re family peers or parents

Thanks

Hello there,

I found your Joseph and Mary living at Tittenhanger Green on the 1851 census with their seven children.  Joseph is recorded as being born at Gt.Berkhampstead whilst the remainder were born at TG.  This may affect your search area so far as Joseph is concerned.

The only  Allen family at TG was Thomas age 39 with his wife and two children.   He could be related to your Mary.

If you would like details of the full entry for either or both of these families, please let me know.

Good luck with your search.

Regards   ...   Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks very much for your reply, its the first indication I have found of Joseph coming from anywhere other than TG. If you could let me have the full details please that would be great.
thanks again

Just a couple more points -

FreeBMD records the registration of the marriage of Joseph Ivory and Mary Ann Allen as December Quarter 1837 St.Albans district Vol.6 Page 743.

The IGI records Joseph Ivery birth 22nd April 1812, chris 2nd August 1812 Northchurch, Hertford. The parish of Northchurch is included in the town of Berkhampstead (also called Gt.Berkhampstead).  The parish records will need to be seen to clarify spellings and parents.

Could I suggest the website www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk and search for Town and Villages - Berkhampstead.   Very interesting.

That's it.
