Gormally - Galway
« on: Thursday 21 July 05 21:48 UTC (UK) »

I am seeking any information about people with the name Gormally from Galway. My great grandfather, John Gormally, is believed to have come from eastern Galway. He was born around 1855 and he emigrated to England in about 1874. His place of birth is uncertain, but it could have been either Mount Bellew or Ballinasloe. He had a brother called Patrick and his father's name could have been Thomas, but the latter is again uncertain.

Regards,

John

My mother is Mary Gormally from Menlough, Galway.  The closest bigger town to Menlough is Mountbellew.  It's in East Galway.  About 26 miles outside Galway City on the way to Ballinasloe.

She had three brothers Andrew (deceased RIP) and John (deceased RIP) - both of whom lived most of their adult lives in London and ------- (still alive and living in Ireland).  My mom is still alive and living in Chicago.

Her father was named Andrew.  He had emigrated to the States as a young adult in the early 1900's and returned home to Galway to get married and have his family.

If you want more info, please reply.

Hi Pat-
I'm your cousin Therese from NJ, Erin Screen's daughter. I spoke with your Mom last Spring. I assume you have gotten the Screen gedcom I worked on with our cousin Tom but if not let me know and I'll get it to you. I would be happy to add the Gormally info that you have to it. I haven't got alot of time to work on genealogy now days but eventually .... Hope your Mom is well and your brothers. I am working hard to get my kids over to Galway next summer so they can meet JP and the family. I will get my email address to your mom so we can communicate directly.

Hope to talk to you soon- love cousin Therese Hope your brothers are both well

Hello Therese

Great to hear from you.  My brother Johhny died very unexpectedly in April (RIP) at 46 years of age (brain hemorrage) so it's been a bad several months for my mom and the rest of us.

Love

your cousin

Hi Therese

Yes, please call my mom.  It will make her sad but I'm sure she'd appreciate it.  Every day is a struggle for her.

She'll be in and out because she'll be going to my sons' football games tomorrow and Sunday.

Feel free to get my phone numbers from her and I'll do the same so that we can say hello to each other without posting them on here.

love

Pat
