I found only one possible in an ancient and very unwieldy 15 year-old OS2 computer database that frustrated even the archivist. By their own admission their database is incomplete and contains errors, and there is a plan to upgrade it.

Did the death certificate of your James TURNER mention how many years he had lived in NZ?

Dear pagalynny - With the information you have you should be able to order certificates through our Department of Internal Affairs in N.Z. Their web-site is www.dia.govt.nz. Hope this helps.
James Turner had apparently resided in New Zealand for 69 years making his arrival around 1856/1857 aged about 19yrs.He could have come over with parents John & Elizabeth. James married in N.Z. in 1862. lyn
