I have a 1761 King James Version which I am seeking to reunite with the descendants of the family. It contains a handwritten history of the Cannons (17?? - 1905), penned by various family members during those years. The last Cannons mentioned therein are:
Peregrine Fernie Cannon (b. 23/04/1895, d. 06/10/1916 - Somme, WW1)
Twins Marian and Doris Cannon (b. 09/09/1897, d. 06/04/1898 & 08/04/1898) Buried St. Bees.
Robert Clark Cannon (b. 29/07/1896 aboard the ship "Sir Robert Fernie" off the Californian Coast. Baptized at St. Bees)
There are various other Cannons mentioned - mostly born and buried in or near near St. Bees, Isel and "Blindcrath" (?) - CUMBRIA
Prior to this there are a Braithwaite (Lucy Walton), a Wilson (Abigail) and a Fisher (?) who all marry into the family.
So what happened to Robert Clark Cannon ? Could he still have children or grandchildren near St. Bees ? Or Harrington ? And how did this dusty great thing end up in a secondhand bookshop in Liverpool about ten years ago ? !!! I didn't pay much for it but it's possibly got great sentimental value for someone. It'd be nice if it could just be reunited with the family.
You can see some of my research into this matter here:

That link will more fully explain the Liverpool/Lancashire connection !
Thanks, Mike.

You can see from this here link, shipping is an integral part of this mystery so 'James Orrell' might possibly be a connection. The 'Fernie' of 'Peregrine Fernie Cannon' is evidently him being named after the Sir Robert Fernie ship aboard which he was born and Dad was a "Master Mariner" with a house in Tranmere (and Captain of said ship on the 1901 Census)

HI
Please tellme if you want only to concentrate on mainly and only CANNON family then I wil stop posting info for the in-law side of the family
here is Lucy's family in the 1871 census not in age order and note how Lucy is not with them she is else where see below this is where the Clark connection fits in for her sons middle name
Ada Braithwaite abt 1869 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Daughter Whinfell Cumberland Edward Braithwaite abt 1864 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Son Whinfell Cumberland Henry Braithwaite abt 1833 Irton, Cumberland, England Head Whinfell Cumberland James E Braithwaite abt 1862 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Daughter Whinfell Cumberland Margaret Braithwaite abt 1871 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Daughter Whinfell Cumberland Mary Braithwaite abt 1835 Bootle, Cumberland, England Wife Whinfell Cumberland Tharp Braithwaite abt 1863 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Son Whinfell Cumberland William H Braithwaite abt 1868 Whinfell, Cumberland, England Son Whinfell Cumberland John Clarke abt 1855 Cleator, Cumberland, England Whinfell Cumberland
Margaret Horsley abt 1855 Wigton, Cumberland, England Servant Whinfell Cumberland
Ann Stephenson abt 1832 Greysouthen, Cumberland, England Servant Whinfell Cumberland
the is the 1871 for Lucy W Braithwaite.
there were plenty of servants/borders but have only posted names that so far occur in the tree
Alice Braithwaite abt 1866 Brigham, Cumberland, England Niece Lowside Quarter Cumberland Lucy Walton Braithwaite abt 1860 Brigham, Cumberland, England Niece Lowside Quarter Cumberland Mary A Braithwaite abt 1858 Brigham, Cumberland, England Niece Lowside Quarter Cumberland Bridget A Clarke abt 1861 Ulverston, Lancashire, England Niece Lowside Quarter Cumberland Edward Clarke abt 1844 Ponsonby, Cumberland, England Brother Lowside Quarter Cumberland UNMARRIED Commercial Traveller
Lucy Clarke abt 1842 Ponsonby, Cumberland, England Sister Lowside Quarter Cumberland UNMARRIED Teacher
Tamar Clarke abt 1839 Bootle, Cumberland, England Head Lowside Quarter Cumberland UNMARRIED Teacher of Day and Boarding ( guess thats why some extra names are down as Borders)
so now ther emerges the maiden name of Lucy W Braithwaite mum, Mary Braithwaite nee Clark(e)

Thanks for all your hard work, Wendy. It's not that I'm concentrating on one side or t'other, I just want to find *anyone* connected so I can get this thing to 'em !
I'll digest your results and see what comes of it.
Cheers !

There's just a possibility that I may be vaguely connected with a Jane Cannon who married Miles Wilson in Crosthwaite, Cumberland on 22/12/1851. Her father was recorded as John.
Any links?
Stuart
