LUV, Do you have anymore on them?
I have this 1841c, considering that Elizabeth Thomson, born 1847 has Taylor , in the middle of her name, this will be a strong possibility. and also that I can only find 2 children, for Mary McCombie and David Thomson, ..........Mary marrying 24/1/1846, would appear that she was marrying a bit older, than usual..... I feel this is her family,
1841 Census Aberdeenshire Logie Buchan Address: Ballhill ~~~~~~~~ MCCOMBIE James M 55 Ag Lab Outside Census County (1841) MCCOMBIE Mary (Snr) F 50 Aberdeenshire MCCOMBIE Mary (Jnr) F 25 Aberdeenshire TAYLOR Mary F 80 Aberdeenshire
modified............. I have found the likely Birth of Mary McCombie.......... 26/7/1812 Logie Buchan. ( so she was 33 yrs old when she married David Thomson) her father was James McCombie and mother Mary Taylor, they married 8/12/1811 Logie Buchan. I can't find anymore children
modified......................
If you join scotlandspeople.....you will be able to buy these 2 deaths...... 1859,....James McCombie, 72 yrs, Logie Buchan, mother's surname........Husband.
& 1873.....Mary McCombie / Taylor. 83 yrs, Logie Buchan.
There is an entry of Marriage for a Peter McOmie to Euphan Husband 15/8/1762, Cargill, Perthshire...( I don't know if this is James's parents) you will need that death certificate. there are 2 boys to them but no James,........... and he would have been born another 20yrs+ further on......it is possible.....
Good Luck, Tell us how you go! kenjo

Thanks Kenjo
I did do the same detective work and came up with the same conclusions, but appreciate that you obviously went to quite a bit of trouble for me - Thank you!
I went to "scotlandspeople" and paid to see the OPR. I have ordered three certificates from there. Further I went to FreeCen and found the same 1841 census (Mary McCombie) but could not find one for my David Thomson (who goes on to marry Mary McCombie) and his sister Helen they were both born in Angus/Forfarshire. I did find a birth for my Helen Thomson I "think" in Liff Parish Angus/Forfarshire but at this point...I cannot be sure.
Anyway it was at that site that I found the baptisms of David and Mary's children (Elizabeth, David & William). Their son William, his father was listed as Davidson Thomson and mother Mary McCombie while Elizabeth and David were just David Thomson father and mother Mary McCombie.
I hope to find the family on the 1851 Census somewhere - probably Logie Buchan would be my first stop!
Thank you again LUV (Susan)
