Gibsons of Wigtown, Scotland
« on: Wednesday 13 October 04 10:17 UTC (UK) »

I am seeking info on my Great-great-grandfather, Jno Gibson. I have discovered that he was registered, for  purposes of the 1861 census, in District 2, the Parish of Milton Abbas, Blandford Forum. He was the owner of Delcombe Farm, was married to Jane, who was 25 yrs old and born in Stafford Newcastle. He was 41 yrs old and was said to be born in Wigtown. I would consequently assume he was born in about 1820. I would appreciate any info or advice.

Hello Vic, first of all, sorry but I speak slightly English. My name is Oscar Gibson, I`m from Argentina (Buenos Aires City). I´m seeking info about my ancestors. May be we have family in common, but in what degree?. I have scanty info. My great great grandfather migrate toward Argentina in the 19th century from Wigtown, I don´t know the year. His name is James Gibson I or James Gibson II. Do you have any info about him?. Thanks a lot.

Regards.

I also have some Wigtownshire Gibsons - Agnes Gibson  (born about 1795 in Glasserton?).  She married  John Conning (born about 1787), a farmer from Whithorn, Wigtownshire.  Their daughter, Janet Conning was my gg grandmother.  She married Robert Logan and they emigrated to the US in about 1834.

Maybe we can link up??
