quick geography lesson
« on: Tuesday 27 July 04 22:37 UTC (UK) »

hi

if i said that my ancestor was born in 1823 in kersal, notts but christened in kneesall, notts, does this sound possible? in other words assuming they are not the same place, is one a parish and the other a county or something like that?

i dont know the area at all, so can someone give me some background info on the parishes/area etc for that time in history?

thanks

Thanks funny winto as my GG Granddad William Townrow (b. 1833) was born in Knessall on some records, whist others say Babworth. But if you look on todays map the two places are nomore than 5 miles apart from each other.
