Are there any East Yorkshire Family History Society member on here, if so have you received your July edition of the Banyan Tree? I haven't received mine yet though it usually arrives in the first half of the month. I've emailed EYFHS but have yet to receive a reply.

Nice to know it's not just mine that hasn't arrived, I think I'll try and ring someone next week if it hasn't come by Monday.

I've still nor received a reply to the email I sent last week so this week I've sent a letter to a different person, just awaiting a reply now. I did suggest that if there was a problem then a notice on their website might be useful, that way at least some of the memebers would know what is going on.
I know it's the height of the holiday season but we've never had this problem before as far as I can remember and I've been a member for about 7 or 8 years.

Is it coincidence that i wrote to EYFHS this week asking about the Banyan Tree and if there was a problem couldn't they put a notice on their website?
Checked their website tonight and low and behold there is an apology for the delay, doesn't say when they are likely to arrive though.

The Banyan Tree (et al)
I am the webmaster of the EYFHS website so I will try to answer some of the questions which were noticed on this page by my lovely wife.
The Banyan Tree
I posted a notice on the web site about the late dispatch of the Banyan Tree following a suggestion from an EYFHS member. As stated on the web site, the delay has been as a result of the number of new publications recently launched by the Society and the extra workload this has placed on our volunteers. We had received so many requests for the new publications that we, as a committee, decide to prioritise on the printing of the new booklets (census indexes for Beverley & Pocklington I believe) so that they could be made available for members attending a recent event in Beverley.
Email Responses
I am not sure why any email would go un-answered unless the person you attempted to contact is away on holiday, for example. Even if you send a malformed email (e.g. allen[AT]eyfhs.org.uk instead of alan[AT]eyfhs.org.uk) it would be sent on to me, as the webmaster, for redirection.
Members Interests
When Members Interests are received at EYFHS, they are added to our 'active' database. We do not, and never have, send out a reply; the postage bill would be phenomenal!
When a member requests information about another member, all that we do is pass on that request to the member concerned. We never give out members information directly as we respect the privacy of all of our members. We are also prevented from doing so by the Data Protection Act.
The web based Members Interests have recently had a major update so please, Mr Olsen, have another look. If your interests are not there than please send then to me by email and I will post them for you immediately I receive them. However, according to our mail-server records, no emails were received from your registered address during January.
I am currently experimenting with ways of allowing members being able to edit their own interests on the web site. Watch the site for more...

Thanks for the response Hullwebs, it's nice to know what's going on.
Over the weekend I did receive a phone call from the membership secretary in reply to my letter explaining things. thanks again.
