I have trace my family back to Peter and Ann Shawcross nee Edgerley. Peter was b. Irlam about 1800 and Ann in Flixton in 1808.

Their eldest son James was b, Irlam 1825. I am descended from the second son William b. 1828 in Gorton.

William m. Aves Wilkinson 20 August 1849 in Manchester Cathedral. By 1881 their son Alfred had moved to Ashton-under-Lyne. The family were originally on Albion St but later moved to Hope Street in the Hurst area of Ashton where they had several houses. They also had houses on the neighbouring streets .... Princess Street, Whiteacre Rd. etc

I have an extensive list of relatives on rootsweb but would like to contact more and break the brickwall of Peter and Ann.
