An address in or near Clonmel is on my relatives Army Records as next of kin, in 1899.
Am curious to know if this place is still there.
Address is.......c/o Capt Morton.LITTLE BLAND, CLONMEL.
Were there Army Barracks there c1899.
Any body know about this area, thanks.

Kickham Barracks is in Clonmel.
KICKHAM BARRACKS
Clonmel had a regular English garrison since the siege of 1650. A permanent military barracks was constructed in 1780 in response to threats of uprising by a growing Irish volunteer movement. A further Barracks was built in 1805 to house garrisons in preparation for an expected invasion by Napoleon. On the 9th February 1922, the barracks were taken over from the British by the 5th battalion 3rd Tipperary Brigade, commanded by commandant P. Dalton. The rebuilding of the barracks, as it is today, commenced in 1942 and was completed in 1945. Today it is the home of two companies of the 12th infantry battalion.

Many thanks for your interesting reply.
I am researching Quarter Master Sergeant Thomas Holman MacPherson Royal Engineers Depot Cork 1838-1887, and his family of six children.
The second daughter Annie MacPherson was obviously in service in Clonmel, in 1899. Address found on my grandfathers early Army Records, as his sister, next of kin.

Many thanks for unearthing this very interesting article in Tipperary 1900.
Yes, should say that there could well be a connection here. A member of the Capts
family probably.
I made this post over 3 years ago how on earth did you find it,most of my
research on my MACPHERSONS has been done,this was a loose end without
an answer.
