COMPLETED -Mary Bone, born Sept 2, 1827, Aberdeen
« on: Tuesday 02 August 05 08:43 BST (UK) »

Looking for parents, siblings, and descendants of Mary.  On 1901 Census for Virden, Manitoba, states date of birth as Sept 2, 1827 although I was also told Sept 2, 1830.  I was given place of birth as Aberdeen but don't know if this is correct.  Mary's ethnic origin was Irish.  Mary emigrated to Canada in 1832 and later married Francis Wood of Ontario  said to be of Scotch origin.  Mary died in Virden Manitoba in 1903.

Hi Peggy,
Have you ruled out the Mary Bone born in Aberdeen on the Family Search IGI site?  I looked for the death of Mary on the Manitoba Vital Statistics site, and it has her age as 72, which would give 1831 as an approximate year of birth. The following is the only Mary Bone born in Aberdeen between the years 1825 and 1835, and she just happens to have been born in September:

IGI Extracted Entry: Mary Bone, birth 26 Sept 1831, Tyrie, Aberdeen
Father Alexander Bone, Mother Ann Murison.

There are seven children entered for this couple, starting in 1830 up until 1845, all in Tyrie.  (Anne, Alexander, Isabella, Mary, Jean, Catherine, and William.)

Unfortunately, these dates do not fit the dates you have from the 1901 Census, but we all know what tangled webs those can sometime weave!

Thank you so much Meg.  I am still trying to sort out all the Bones which involve several Marys.  One married Francis Wood, one married a Bell, then a Hood, there is one on the 1881 census for St. Cyprien, Napierville with John and Alexander, and some others as well.  Thank you for this information. I will keep it in mind as I try to build this puzzle.  I would say this is not my Mary who married Francis Wood, as she is supposed to have emigrated in 1832, and that would preclude siblings born after that date still in Tyrie.

Peggy,
Good luck in sorting out your Marys.  I do not know if you are aware of the Ontario Vital Statistics Project, but you might be interested in looking through their site since there is an Ontario connection.

Happy hunting,

I just found that this was answered in another thread...you should mark this as completed elsewhere, so that you don't get more duplicate answers.

I don't know how to do that.  As it is, I am still trying to sort out my Mary(s).  Thank you for sending me this information.

Just go in to your subject line and mark it CLOSED. Good luck with your  search.

oops, sorry....Not clear on that...on the very "first"  message in the thread, hit "modify" button and change the subject line, then save. Plus if I may make a suggestion, the word "closed" or "completed" might be better right after the word topic.
