Where would he be buried?
« on: Sunday 07 August 05 18:42 BST (UK) »

One of my ancestors Edward Kennedy died in Aberdeen Poorhouse in 1913,he was born in Dundee and at the time of his death both his parents were also dead so where would he be buried if there was no one to claim the body.Anne.

Anne

If he had been resident in Aberdeen for some years before his death he would have been buried locally.

The fact that he had been accepted into the local poorhouse infers strongly that he had been resident locally for some years, otherwise he could have been referred back to the Dundee poor relief authorities.

In other words, near certain that he would have been buried in Aberdeen, but it could have been an unmarked grave.

As far as I'm aware there are no extant poor relief inspectors' reports for Aberdeen.  Whether or not there are other extant records including info on burials, I dont know.

Your best next contact would be with Aberdeen & NE Scotland FHS at http://www.anesfhs.org.uk/ . They should be able to direct you to any possible sources, including any extant "Cems and Crems" records held by the local authority.
