Hello Norfolkgal
I am researching the Green family originally from March who coincidently have a connection with a Carter family.
Our Greens' contain a lot of Samuels and Fredericks and one branch emigrated to Canada in 1833.
Sarah Green b1743 had an illigitimate son named Samuel b1780. The present conjecture is that his father may have been William Erastus Carter.
If any of this sounds familiar to you please get back to me and we can go into further detail.
Look forward to hearing from you
Nick

Hello Norfolk Gal
It is interesting that with your John Infield from March and mine from Ramsey that there must be some common thread prior to this. I am yet to explore searching others trees that are kind enough to share them.
John obviously is a favourite name amongst the Infield line.
Regards
Rhonda

Hi, I have many ancestors from March too, but what's surprising is that out of all those names you posted, only one seems familiar!!!!! The name is Green, but I was so hoping for more!! I have widow Sarah Cater, nee Green, who marries into my Whittlesey family...she married widower Robert Whittlesey in 1853 at St Wendreda, Parish church of March. Does that ring any bells?? In my March families I have the names Whittlesey, Whittlesea, Mills, Roberts, Touch, Roe, Fuller and Leaten/Leaden/Leeton.

Hi, All those surnames in March and non are familiar to me. The only Sarah Green I have was born c1820 to Daniel and Elizabeth. My old family tree program is collapsing and I have lost a lot of information. I am in the process of re-building my tree. Thus I haven't got anymore info on this Sarah Green at the moment. Do you think she could be the same one as your Sarah?

Hi Norfolkgal, Don't know much about this branch of Greens either but here's what I do have....Sarah Green b.c1803 married Mr Cater. Then, widow Sarah Cater married widower Robert Whittlesey in St Wendreda Parish Church, March in January 1853. Her father was William Green. Sorry I can't be of more help, and I hope you manage to get your tree put back together.
DG
P.S. Just realised this might be of interest to Nick, ref the name Carter/Cater!!

Please forgive me if you already knew this, but I read somewhere that place names ending in EA or EY mean that they were once an inland island, which includes Whittlesey, Manea, Stonea - all villages surrounding March.
I live close to March, and my family roots come from Suffolk, London, Kent and Somerset, so when we moved here 15 years ago I felt a bit of an outsider. When I started researching my family tree, I was delighted to find that my g. grandmother's sister's son (Bertie Hill, 1878 - 1949) is buried in March church yard ! So I feel more a part of the place now.

Hello DG
Unfortunately my Sarah Green b1743 died in 1806 so is unlikely to be the same one as yours. I know she married a Robert Mason but he was not the father of her child. We think the father may be William Erastus Carter. I have reached a real dead end with this one!
Do any of these names mean anything to you?
Regards Nick

Hi, I have a Thomas Hall who married Naomi Norman in 1831 in March, Cambs. I don't have any James Cox born in March, but my 5G Grandparents were Richard Cox and Margaret Garrett. Their daughter, Marjory Cox, born 1734 in March, was my 4G Grandmother.
Any help?
